Award-winning Golf Courses
Over the last 21 years, Kohler has hosted nine major golf tournaments and boasts numerous acclaimed courses. The Straits Course at Whistling Straits will host the 2020 Ryder Cup. Its Irish-styled bunkers and rugged terrain earned it Golf Digest’s “4th Best Public Golf Course in America” designation. The accolades don’t stop there. The Irish Course at Whistling Straits, and the River and Meadow Valleys courses at Blackwolf Run, all designed by Pete Dye, have been recognized as top picks by Golf Digest, GolfWeek and GOLF Magazine. Want to improve your game? At the Kohler Swing Studio & Golf Shop, the aboutGolf indoor simulator lets you practice on the world’s most iconic links without leaving the shop.
Experience the Five-Star Treatment
With diamonds, stars and awards to spare, Kohler’s resorts are destinations in themselves. The American Club Resort Hotel opened in 1918 and originally served as housing for the Kohler Company’s immigrant workers. Today, the resort offers four championship golf courses, nine restaurants and the Kohler Waters Spa to go along with its AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star Hotel ratings. Group travelers will love the Inn on Woodlake, which features a private beach and suites for up to eight guests, or the Sandhill, a private luxury cabin.
Shopping and Dining for Days
The Shops at Woodlake are irresistible. Browse boutique styles at Sweet Potato's Unique Boutique, Scentualities and Art Imig’s Clothiers. Indulge your sweet tooth at Craverie Chocolatier Café, home of Kohler's signature chocolate terrapin and chocolate brandy. When you need to find a perfect memento, head to Wisconsin Trader, specializing in Wisconsin-made gifts. No doubt you’ll get hungry along the way. The Immigrant Restaurant, a AAA Four-Diamond and Forbes Four-Star restaurant, is a must-try for impeccable fine cuisine, including its cheese menu featuring 50 award-winning, indigenous cheeses. Finish off with a nightcap at the historic Horse & Plow; it used to be the tavern for Kohler Company workers.
Kohler History and Attractions
If the name “Kohler” sounds familiar, that’s because it’s one of the most widely recognized brand names of kitchen and bath products in the world. Sinks and bathtubs might seem commonplace, but you’ll be surprised at Kohler’s fascinating story. Browse three levels of company history and modern design at the Kohler Company Design Center. Don’t miss a tour of the Kohler Factory, one of the few remaining cast-iron production facilities in the USA. Log some quality outdoor time with seasonal activities like fishing and paddling in the summer and skiing and ice fishing in winter. Nearby, the Kohler-Andrae State Park is home to sand dunes along the Lake Michigan shore.
