The website for Girl & the Goat, Stephanie Izard’s award-winning Chicago restaurant, says she swims faster than she cooks and that her power comes from her considerable hair. Clearly, this nationally known chef doesn’t take herself too seriously, even if others do. She was named the James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef – Great Lakes” and Food & Wine’s “Best New Chef”. Girl & the Goat has been praised by Saveur, the New York Times and Food & Wine, and Izard was the first woman to win Bravo’s Top Chef (season four). Wondering where the restaurant’s name came from? “Izard” is the French name for a goat that can be found in the Pyrenees Mountains.
